What is UV Therapy?
Find out more about UV Therapy by clicking here

What is tanning?

Tanning takes place in the skin’s outermost layer, the epidermis, with special cells called melanocytes. When exposed to UV-B light, melanocytes produce the pigment, melanin. The pinkish melanin travels up through the epidermis and is absorbed by other skin cells. When exposed to UV-A light, melanin oxidizes or darkens. This is your skin’s way of protecting itself against too much UV light.

Seeking More than a Tan?

For some users, tanning is not just about tanning their skin. The light rays are often recommended as mood boosters, especially to combat depression or low moods during darker seasons of the year.

How do I tan while protecting my skin?

The most beneficial way to care for your skin is to take your time. For the best tan possible, build your base tan slowly by increasing your tan time gradually. Tanning for too long can lead to overexposure and reddening, which just slows down the process. Another important way to care for your skin is to moisturize. The tanning process can take up to 24 hours, even after only several minutes in our equipment. During this process, color continues to develop and skin may lose its natural moisture and nutrients. Therefore, the best way to care for your skin during tanning is to keep it nourished and moisturized. We offer a wide selection of body lotion and tanning accelerators available for purchase.

How do I protect my eyes?

It is required that you wear eyewear that protects against 99% of UVA rays and 99.9% of UVB rays. You cannot just close your eyes; your eyelids are too thin to block UV. Eyewear must be certified and approved by the FDA. We offer both temporary and multi-use goggles that meet Federal standards.

What can I expect during my UV Therapy | Tanning Panel session?

Upon your arrival you will check in at the front desk with one of our Front Desk Coordinators. If this is your first visit, you will be asked to fill out our waiver for this service.

You must have protective eyewear to be able to use the UV Panel. We sell disposable eye protection, plastic reusable goggles, as well as tanning accelerator & body lotions.

After you are checked in, make sure you use the restroom before entering the UV room.

You will be taken to the private UV room and shown how to use the functions on the tanning panel/minute timer.

Please note that the room is quite small (fitting room size) and you will be standing for the duration of your UV session.

You may undress to your comfort level or tan in the buff, as the room is equipped with a locking door.

There will be a fresh towel in the room that you may use after your session.

There is a 20 min maximum for all UV sessions. Please note that panel=one side. The maximum recommended exposure is 10 mins per side of body, totaling a maximum of 20 mins.

You are responsible for choosing and keeping track of the duration of your session with the timer provided.

Once your session is complete you can leave the towel behind and collect your personal belongings before checking out at the front desk.

Tanning beds are NOT safer than the sun. Science tells us that there’s no such thing as a safe tanning bed, tanning booth, or sun lamp.
